Ormsö (est. Vormsi), is the name of the lesser island situated between Hiiumaa and the Estonian mainland.
Ormsö is (together with Runö in the Bay of Riga) "the" Swede-island. Here was Swedish the language spoken until World War II. Now there are fewer persons talking Swedish, but family connections to Sweden are many, and most of the villages on the island have Swedish names.
Approaching
The port is situated at Sviby ferry bridge, at the south side of Ormsö. You approach the safe water buoy S. of Isl. Hobulaid and follow the buoyage into the port. Coming closer you also see see the leading line.
