Visa and letter of invitation - Russia |

You have to have a valid visa in order to enter Russia. You apply for
it at a Russian consulate. You also need a letter of invitation from a
yacht club . The invitation
shall be presented to the consulate together with your visa
application. (A "tourist-visa" without a letter of invitation requires
a valid hotel reservation).
The letter of invitation have to include:
- the name and nationality of the yacht
- name, nationality, place and date of birth, and passport number for everyone aboard
- place(s) to visit in Russia
- date of arrival and departure to/from Russia
It is essential to add a little extra time regarding the dates in the visa application. You can be delayed due to weather and wind, and its almost impossible to change a visa in Russia.
The Visa application
Visa applications have to be delivered in person, by proxy or through a visa or travel agency. You can't send in applications by mail.
The processing time for a normal visa is 7 work days. The fee is EUR 35. If you need a shorter processing time, it can be arranged, but to a higher cost.
The visa application must include:
- Fully completed visa application form
- Valid national passport
- One recent passport-sized photograph of the applicant
- Paid travel insurance (in the form of a letter signed by an authorized officer)
