At NW Saaremaa you find a deep sea bay, the Bay of Tagalaht. Down in the SW corner you find the port Veere. It is not so much more than a port. There is no village ashore and the attractions of the place consists mostly of a forest.
Despite these depressing facts, you can have god reasons to pay Veere a Visit:
- Veere is one of few Estonian ports that can be approached in darkness
- From Veere it is not far to Kuressaare, the principal town of Saaremaa. If your voyage not include sailing in Bay of Riga at the south side of Saaremaa, Veere could be a good place to enter a taxi or bus to the town.
