Swinoujscie Print E-mail
Swinoujscie is the westernmost port of Poland. It is situated at the estuary of river Swina. The river is the most important outlet for river Oder and Zalew Szczecinski.

Swinoujscie  by isiax, on FlickrSailing on Zalew Szczecinski you can reach river Oder and Szczecin in south. Fro Oder you can sail on, to the German canal system.

In west Zalew Szczecinski leads through protected waters to Germany. It is possible to follow these waterways all the way to island Rügen and Stralsund. It is also possible to sail eastwards on Zalew Szczecinski back to the Baltic sea via Wolin and Dziwnow.ELLENnet EOF sign

Approaching

Swinoujscie is one of the few Polish ports you can approach in any weather. The inlet is protected by two piers. The western pier is equipped with a lighthouse shaped like a wind mill.

The marinas

Basen Polnocny
There are two marinas on the western side. The northernmost is the yacht club "4 wiatr" (4 winds). Next comes Basen Polnocny. The southernmost of the marinas, the Marina Orion in the city centre, is no longer operating. 

The town

Swinoujscie is one of the most important ports of Poland. Big cargo ships and passenger ferries call the port. The traffic southwards to Szczecin is also significant. In the town you will find any service, but also long beaches at the sea-side of the town.

We had got a report that Marina Orion in Swinoujscie is closed. However the other Marinas operate.

Indeed the Orion marina in the centre of the town has stopped. Marina Baltica in the Basen Stoczniowy is the real alternative. There is an diesel pump. Nice surroundings around this habour and the centre of the city is 1,5km away.
