Haapsalu (swe. Hapsal) is situated at the Estonian mainland, opposite Dagö (Hiiumaa) and the "Swede-island" Ormsö (Vormsi). In Haapsalu you feel the spirit of a small town, but if you look careful, you can also discover a medieval street pattern!
Approaching
The waters W of Haapsalu are very shallow. You approach the town, following several leading lines. A good chart showing the approach is essential. Do not try to enter Haapsalu by night! At the peninsula you follow the buoys around the peninsula. The marina is situated on the "back side". It is well worth the effort to find your way here. The Grand Holm Marina is one of the best in Estonia.
Haapsalu Grand Holm Marina has been forced to close. No other
alternative harbor can recieve visiting yachts. Thus, Haapsalu is closed for yacht tourism in summer 2008. Our open letter to the
mayor of Haapsalu is published in the Forum.
