The history of the port is connected with the creation of the "Polish corridor" after world war one. Poland got a narrow strip of land connecting it with the Baltic Sea, but no port. Poland needed a port and a it was constructed at Gdynia.

The city is today a modern port town with a huge commercial port.

You can approach Gdynia and the yachts club in any weather, day and night. The yacht club is located in the southern part of the port. It is one the the biggest yacht clubs in Poland. The city
